Whitecourt resident Stacey Boyce wins $36 million in LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball draw on October 15, 2025—discover how a routine propane run turned into a life-changing Alberta lottery jackpot.
A Whitecourt resident is now $36 million richer after claiming the latest LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball prize. Stacey Boyce, originally from Calgary, operates a logging company near Hinton and said his life changed instantly after checking his ticket for the October 15 draw.
“I said, ‘Holy Cow!’” Boyce recalled, laughing. “I actually walked out of the store and had to come back because I’d forgotten my propane bottles!”
Boyce purchased the winning ticket at Valley Mart, 106 Market Street in Hinton, and later confirmed his win online after a routine stop for supplies. The winning numbers for the LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball draw were 30-36-70-74-01. He officially claimed the prize on November 4, 2025.
The first person he called to share the news was his cousin, who advised him to stay humble and invest wisely. Soon after, he told his daughter, who immediately requested a pony. “I want to make sure my daughter has a comfortable life,” he said, smiling.
Despite the life-changing win, Boyce intends to keep working. “I plan to go back to work right after this,” he told reporters in Calgary. “I don’t know what else I’d do. I’m going to keep it as close to normal as possible.”
Boyce said he plans to invest part of his winnings into expanding his logging company, including purchasing trucks, and hopes to support charitable causes with his family. He also made it clear that he has no immediate plans for extended travel or extravagant vacations, preferring activities like fishing or camping.
“It’s pretty non-normal,” Boyce admitted. “Hopefully, we can keep things pretty humble.”
