Barb and Don Kostiuk of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, celebrated an unforgettable moment when they claimed $1,000,002 in the August 12, 2025 LOTTO MAX draw.
They officially claimed their prize on September 3, 2025.
The couple couldn’t believe their eyes when they checked their ticket in-store. “I scanned it a couple times and thought, ‘This isn’t right!’” laughed Don. “So, I took it up to the cashier to scan and it came up as a $1 million winner!”
The excitement continued as Don shared the news with his wife. “I left the store and did jumping jacks,” he recalled, still laughing. “I went to the vehicle to tell my wife.”
“He’s not great at doing a happy dance,” Barb added with a laugh. “We were both so excited!”
The Kostiuks are already planning how to make the most of their windfall. They said the winnings will help bring their son back home to Saskatoon. “We will get him back home, do some investing, and see what the next plans are,” explained Barb.
Don described the win as a surreal gift. “You dream about it—and then it happens!” he smiled. “At a little grocery store out in Saskatoon, when there are millions of people in Canada—it happened!”
The winning ticket, purchased at Greg’s Grocery, located at 3501 11 St. W in Saskatoon, matched one of the MAXMILLIONS prize selections in the August 12 LOTTO MAX draw: 13, 21, 28, 36, 40, 49, and 50. The Kostiuks shared the excitement of a major win that will no doubt change their lives.
This incredible win is a reminder to always check your tickets—you never know when your luck might strike!
