A Nelson Bay man says he was “flabbergasted” and left in a dreamlike daze after receiving the call he had been waiting his whole life for — confirmation that he’d won $200,000 in Australia’s Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot.
The Hunter Region resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1734, drawn on Monday, 17 November 2025. His winning ticket, made up of three random numbers, was purchased at newsXpress Salamander Bay.
When officials from The Lott rang with the life-changing news, he admitted he was momentarily speechless.
“I’ve always dreamt of getting this phone call!”
“Wow! Oh gosh! I’m flabbergasted right now.”
The Australian winner said he had been feeling unusually lucky in recent weeks — and for good reason.
“Good things come in threes. First, I scored some free tickets… then I won $86 on Powerball… and now $200,000 today! Unreal!”
The timing couldn’t have been better. After years of wanting to take an international trip — especially since COVID restrictions — he now plans to finally turn that dream into reality.
“I’ve been wanting to do overseas travel since COVID times. I’m excited to book something for next year.”
He said the win will make a “big difference” in his life and will take time to fully sink in.
